Become a Chartered Accountant whilst earning a wage – our Apprenticeship Scheme

by | Nov 12, 2024 | Career, FK news

Are you an A-Level school leaver thinking about the future? Perhaps you want a good career but learning on the job is more your style? If either of these sound like you – the Foxley Kingham Apprenticeship Scheme might be your perfect route to success. Applications are now open for our next programme, beginning in September 2025 – and we’re looking for local young people to apply.

Why become an apprentice?

“When I studied for AAT Level 3 there was always someone to ask about the course as most people working here have done it. Also, there was no set exam dates so it meant I could study at my own speed.”

Accountancy Apprenticeships have high success and satisfaction rates, when compared to equivalents in other industries. For example, seven in ten apprentices say the programme helped them achieve their dream career; and four out of five would highly recommend an apprenticeship to others. But beyond career satisfaction, why should you consider an Accountancy Apprenticeship?

  • You can gain a meaningful qualification and career, whilst earning a wage and without paying University fees.
  • You can learn ‘on the job’, with hands-on support from professional colleagues.
  • There are a variety of roles and levels to choose from – and you’ll get first-hand experience of which one is for you.
  • As well as Academic learning, you’ll learn the soft skills necessary to succeed in life by being in a workplace, including communication, IT, and how to effectively manage your time.
  • You’ll grow a network of professionals who can support you in your apprenticeship and become your peers once you qualify.
  • You’ll have fun! You’ll join with a number of other apprentices, and there will be more in the years above you. At Foxley Kingham, colleagues become friends – and it’s no different for our apprentices.

The programme

“From the moment I arrived at Foxley Kingham I felt like part of the team with everyone being so willing to help with my career progression.”

With a Foxley Kingham Apprenticeship, you’ll spend around 20% of your time in class, and 80% in the workplace. And you’ll earn a wage while you do it. You’ll work on real accounts, for real clients, supported by our team of Chartered Accountants and finance professionals. It’s fully funded – so you’ll pay not a penny towards your qualification.

Sara Edwards, Group HR Manager who leads our Apprenticeship Scheme says:

“It’s been a great pleasure to watch our Apprentices succeed and thrive over the years – and we’re seeking the next generation of talent to join us.

We’re especially keen to enable ‘homegrown’ talent here in Luton and the surrounding area, so urge local applicants to get in touch.”

What we look for

“Joining Foxley Kingham straight after Sixth Form has been so beneficial for my personal development. Not just academically but because you gain a lot of life skills by being in the office.”

To apply for the scheme, applicants must meet a few academic criteria, which are outlined here. But beyond that we’re looking for hard-working, inquisitive people who enjoy being part of a team and thrive in the workplace. We’re taking applications for our 2025 intake – and we want to hear from you.
