Helping charities and not for profit

Charities and not-for-profit organisations operate in a challenging and increasingly complex field, where it is vital to make the most of every resource.

Our charity and not-for-profit team provide specialist audit, accounting and tax advice to the widest possible range of organisations, including: schools and other educational establishments, sports and cultural arts organisations, grant-making trusts, religious bodies, and professional institutions and associations.

How we work

We’ll assign you a specialist adviser to look after your charity or not-for-profit organisation who will act as a contact for any issues you may have. Our dedicated team will work closely with you to ensure full compliance with the relevant statutory requirements. Some of the ways we can help include:

  • Ensuring compliance with the Charities Act 2015 and SORP 2015
  • Audit/independent examinations
  • Guidance on the tax implications of charity trading and strategies to minimise your tax liabilities
  • Advice on fundraising and methods available to ensure tax efficient donations
  • Governance issues
  • Strategic and operational management
  • Internal control procedures and risk management strategies
  • Budgeting, cashflow projections, and management reporting

Karen has been based at our sister firm GKP since 2017 and in that time has helped expand both the firm’s team and client base, implementing new systems since the Foxley Kingham group acquired the business and welcoming the staff and clients from the Bedford branch of Keen Shay Keens into the Foxley Kingham family. During 2024 she joined the board at Foxley Kingham coming round full circle to where Karen completed her formal accountancy training with the firm.

Karen joined Foxley Kingham in 2005 as a trainee, progressing through the ranks until qualifying in 2016. She went on to specialise in Audit, but from an early stage in her career, expressed an interest in being more involved in managing both client relationships and the overall direction of her team and the wider business.

Karen’s client base covers all sectors ranging from small sole trade business to large multinational groups but her preferred work is helping clients to grow and develop their business, offering no nonsense straight forward advice.

Outside of work Karen spends her time with family, friends and her horse, Paddy.
